This February, Millcreek honors Black History Month with a month-long celebration of art, culture, and community. Throughout the Common, experience programs that illuminate the legacy, creativity, and ongoing contributions of Black Utahns past, present, and future.
The Time Inbetween: Black History Month Scavenger Hunt & Interactive Art Piece
Feb 1–28 | 9am–9pm | Granite Credit Union Adventure Hub
Explore Black history across Millcreek all month long. The Time Inbetween is a Black History Month scavenger hunt that takes you out into the community to learn, explore, and visit local spots with Curly Me!, and add your mark to the community interactive art installation by A.U.M Gallery. Join the fun & learning – pick up a scavenger card at the Granite Credit Union Adventure Hub at Millcreek Common.
A Black History Museum Curated by Sema Hadithi African American Cultural & Heritage Foundation
Feb 1–8 | 11 am–9 pm | The Grandview
This year for Black History Month, Sema Hadithi African American Cultural & Heritage Foundation is partnering with Millcreek City to present two exhibits highlighting African American women and men in Utah’s history. This curated museum exhibition showcases their resilience and achievements. Visitors will learn how Utah continues to benefit from the works of these historic individuals.

Skating, Stories & Snacks

A family storytelling event presented by Curly Me!, followed by free public skating and snacks at the rink.

Utah in the Black Motorist’s Safety Travel Guides Panel
Feb 7 | 10 am-4 pm | Millcreek City Hall Community Forum
Sema Hadithi African American Cultural & Heritage Foundation presents a panel on the history of The Green Book and Utah’s role in providing safe stops for Black travelers during segregation.
Morning Session 10 am–12:30 pm features student research on Utah’s safe stops and why they were essential. Afternoon Session 2 pm–4 pm highlights Women of the Green Book with Jessica Guynn, exploring the role women played in creating safe spaces.

IN COMMUNITY: A Celebration of Black History Makers in Utah
Feb 7 | 7–10 pm | The Grandview
A collaborative celebration bringing together all Millcreek BHM partners for an evening of food, music, art, and recognition. This event will highlight Black history-makers in action and include a community honoree ceremony celebrating history makers in Utah today.
